Reflections 1-2, 2010 |  Video sculpture, monitor, sink, circulator pump, water, 7:00 min (loop), no sound (excerpt)e

Two sinks become sites of ritual and struggle. In one, a woman scrubs her body, swinging between the frantic intensity of a hysterical need to wash herself clean and the slow, self-indulgent rhythm of a sensual practice. In the other, a woman submerges her head repeatedly, screaming “No” and “I love you” beneath the water’s surface. Together, the two sinks stage the tension between compulsion, denial and desire, exposing how intimate rituals can oscillate between purification and suffocation.
