Solring, 2025 |  Video sculpture, 75" monitor installed in the ground, 6:09 min (loop), no sound

Inspired by the Bronze Age burial of the Kildebjerg Woman from Ry, Solring links ancient ritual objects to contemporary symbols of self-representation. The circular bronze belt plate from her grave—perhaps tied to sun cults or fertility rites—finds its echo in today’s “selfie ring,” a luminous tool for perfecting the digital self. Both express a desire to command light, beauty, and visibility. By bringing these forms together, the work traces a thread between past and present ideals of power and identity. The circle becomes a motif of devotion and display: at once sacred and superficial, timeless and technological. Solring reflects on how our age, too, creates its own myths, leaving artifacts that will shape future visions of humanity.
