In Between is a video installation thematizing disruption, existential limbo and broken continuities. A woman hovers uncomfortably in a grave-like space as cinematographical shifts disrupt her sense of gravity and direction, until she finally fixes her gaze directly upon the viewer, and, resolved, leaves the enclosure. The woman is in claustrophobic limbo, the empty space between fixed points. Katja Bjørn thus constructs an artificial ‘halfway house’, and allows the viewer to look directly into, and be confronted with, the non-place of disruption.
