Sleep My Love 2012

Four-channel video installation, 17.52 min, with sound. Sound by Nicolas Vetterli.

Sleep My Love is a four channel video installation probing the depths of the human consciousness by exploring the symbolism of hypnagogia, the transitional state of consciousness between wakefulness and sleep. Katja Bjørn constructs a visual representation of the metaphoric elements related to the various dream states; not just the obviously in-between, but the whole imaginary space of sleep seen from the consciousness of a dreaming subject. The work is rich in religious images in baroque and ritualistic settings, evoking sequential experiences of death, resurrection and redemption.

Exhibited as part of the solo show Sleep My Love at Horsens Art Museum.
